Imperial Caterpillar

1/320s, f16, 800ISO, autoWB, 90mm Tamron macro.

I saw many neat insects today including orange milkweed aphids, a cabbage white butterfly at rest, and a milkweed beetle, as well as an Argiope spider. But the neatest was this Imperial moth caterpillar (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae: Eacles imperialis) I noticed while running home. It’s ugly but amazing with long hairs, spiky tubercules, and coloured spiracles.
