Flax Light Bodice

1/30s, f4.5, 400ISO, autoWB, 50mm p. cropped

I finished knitting three balls of my yarn (Ram Wools Softly) on my Flax Light sweater. Last night I washed my sweater and let it dry overnight so that I would have an idea of the length. It’s definitely too short still but since I’d like to have long sleeves, I’m going to start them and see how long I can get the whole thing.

Small Mending

1/60s, f5.6, 800ISO, autoWB, 90mm Tamron macro.

I did some mending this morning after I noticed that my leggings were developing holes on the inside of my calves (where they rub together). I have tried to stop the holey progression with some new additional stitches.

Gauge Measurements

My sweater is coming along and I’ve stopped after finishing the raglan increases to wash and measure my gauge and recalculate the number of rows needed.

Sweater Start

Last night I cast on Flax Light by tincanknits. It’s a (free) simple pattern designed for new knitters. I’m not a new knitter, but I haven’t knit a sweater in a long time. I took some time earlier this week to search on ravelry and knitty and through my stored patterns for sweaters that I want to knit because I have a lot of yarn that I should use up. I wrote down quite a few ideas (along with matching yarns) so that I can actually work on these.
I’m using Ram Wools Softly (a merino yarn that I got on sale) for this sweater and I wanted to do a tubular/kitchener cast on as it produces a nice edge for 1×1 ribbing. I have done this cast on before but looking at the diagrams in my book did not help me this time. I finally found a site with good photos but had to keep scrolling back and forth to see them – not easy while I am trying to knit! So I imported the photos to Illustrator and produced line drawings that fit on one page. I’ve made this into a tubular-knit so feel free to download it!
My resulting edge isn’t perfect, I’ve noticed a few mistakes since I’ve now knit 16 rows, but I’m not keen on undoing it to start over unless it turns out my sizing is completely off!
