G is pretty happy to have the sawmill working and he demonstrated board cutting with a basswood that he found lying in the field.

Pouring Sap

We’re still collecting sap from our two big maples and T is skilled at pouring it without putting down the bucket (not something that I attempt!).

Tapping Trees

It was a bright sunny day so we decided to tap our trees. This year we are trying to take it easy so we only put two taps in two large maples. We probably won’t get much syrup but are okay with that.

Slow Ski

I didn’t feel like going out today but T went for a ski around the field (he said it was too slippery though). I did defrost the freezer, something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, so I can say that I got things done today.

Skiing on the Green Trail

It’s starting to warm up but there was some fresh snow yesterday so we went to Northumberland Forest again to go skiing while it lasts.
There were a few people who wanted to walk on the Beagle Club trails and I tried to be nice while I told them that this was not the place to walk (but there are designated places not far away).
We skied the green B trail in its entirety and since there had been many visitors before us and the temperatures were high, it didn’t take long.
I should have had my ski model wear brighter colours for a more exciting photo.

Sunny Snowshoe

I decided to ski today and T regretted snowshoeing – the drifts on the east side were high. More photos from today on instagram.

Natural Ice

I noticed a huge sheet of ice in the field so we went out for a (breezy) skate this afternoon. Too bad some silly snowmobilers decided to cross it before it froze as it was an otherwise beautiful sheet. It was great to be the only two skaters on this huge area of ice. More photos on instagram.
