I’ve started to work on the colourwork section of my Rusty sweater in Plutolopi and the knitting is much slower now.

Finished Flax Light

1/640s, f5, 200ISO, autoWB, 50mm p.

My tincanknits Flax Light pullover is finished and now photographed and ravelled. I’m happy with the size, though I wish that the neck was more rounded (higher in the sides and lower in the front).

Flax Light Bodice

I finished knitting three balls of my yarn (Ram Wools Softly) on my Flax Light sweater. Last night I washed my sweater and let it dry overnight so that I would have an idea of the length. It’s definitely too short still but since I’d like to have long sleeves, I’m going to start them and see how long I can get the whole thing.

Circle Crafts Sweater I

I’ve been reading the excellent blog by Karen Templar, Fringe Association lately. It’s been making me think about my wardrobe (just how many clothes do I need?) and valuing homemade clothing. One of the posts made me think about the sweaters that I’ve thrifted with the intention of altering them into something more wearable.
One of these items has an interesting heritage, the red 100% wool sweater that I’m wearing above. It’s hard to see what can be done to make this sweater one that I would actually consistently wear. The shawl collar doesn’t really fold in this stiff wool. The sweater is sized for someone larger; on me, it’s very long and bulky and the sleeves are too long. But I was attracted by it’s 100% wool and made in Canada credentials and added it to my thrifting haul that day ($5/bag).
Tomorrow I’ll show the label of the sweater.

Snow is sticking around so we headed to the forest for a ski. We made it to the top of the Hogsback and then north of Dunbar Road too.
