Argiope on the Move
Z50: 1/250s, 2500ISO, autoWB, 90mm Laowa macro.
This Argiope spider was clipping along the deck making it a challenging target for macro photography (it’s not easy to focus on a moving subject with this manual lens).
Jumping Spider
Z50: 1/400s, 1250ISO, autoWB, 90mm Laowa macro.
Getting the focus and framing correct while using the macro lens is quite difficult (tiny movements affect the resulting frame dramatically). This shot is not quite where I would like it but the subject is so interesting.
This small jumping spider (Araneae: Salticidae) has orange undertones and white hairs and was hiding on joe-pye weed.
Spider in Buttercup
Z50: 1/800s, f6.3, 400ISO, autoWB, 195mm.
I noticed a brown spider hiding in a buttercup (Ranunculus sp.) flower.
Spider in Web
1/125s, f8, 200ISO, autoWB, 90mm Tamron macro.
This morning, the light and fog were perfect to illuminate thousands of spider webs created by the Argiope spiders in the tall grass beside the highway.
Argiope aurantia
1/200s, f9, 1600ISO, autoWB, 90mm Tamron macro.
I had trouble identifying this yellow and black spider although I had seen its species before; this Argiope (Argiope aurantia) is a female and its web was in the field.
Spider on Stabilization
1/160s, f7.1, 1600ISO, autoWB, 90mm Tamron macro.
Perhaps this is a young Argiope spider or just one related.
Spider Eating Mayfly
1/400s, f10, 800ISO, autoWB, 90mm Tamron macro. straightened, cropped
A mayfly rested on the screen but didn’t make it through the day becoming lunch for a spider.
